"I'm Grace Kajoina, and they call me Mama Grace here...
… it makes my heart sad to see children suffer – without food, clothing, an education. That’s why I go the extra mile to look after the little ones. I have seen children grow through my hands from hopelessness to fulfilled adults. This is my calling in life.”
Bringing social and economic empowerment to vulnerable children and mothers in Kikyusa, Uganda
Mama Grace is the Executive Director of Outpouring Grace – and has tirelessly served hundreds of children and mothers across Uganda for almost 30 years.
In 2017 she visited Kikyusa (a town just north of Kampala) and her heart was broken by the challenges she saw.
In 2018 she decided to use her savings and pension to buy land in the area and start a charity to serve children and mothers in the local community.
That’s retirement Mama Grace style!
We are fundraising to support the important and impactful work of Outpouring Grace Ministries in Kikyusa, Uganda
OPGM boost empowerment in the Kikyusa community at a time when the community is more vulnerable than ever
Any support you can give will go towards:
Feeding and clothing local children
Outpouring Grace partners with the local community and school to ensure Kikyusa children are fed, clothed and developing
Launching a cooking and catering school
Outpouring Grace also supports children by empowering mothers. The cooking school will teach nutrition but also equip mothers with entrepreneurial skills to better provide for their families.
Soap and ‘tip-tap’ making, and Covid-19 education
Mama Grace and team are helping local mothers make and sell soap. They have also developed the ‘tip-tap’: a hand-washing solution that works in any rural environment.
Building the team on the ground
The work in Kikyusa is not yet a year old, but the need is ever-growing. This year a Program Manager will be added to enable the current team of three: Mama Grace, a Children’s Coordinator and a Women’s Coordinator.
